Social Justice Book Club (REMOTE)
Join us Saturday March 20th at 6:30pm for Social Justice Book Club. We meet third Saturdays every other month. Books will focus on inequality and injustice including but not limited to race, gender, immigration, poverty, criminal justice issues in the U.S. and around the world. Nonfiction, novels, comics, and memoirs.
Since March is Women's History Month we will discuss Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall.
About the book:
A potent and electrifying critique of today's feminist movement announcing a fresh new voice in black feminism. Celebrating womanhood and feminism has become a wide banner, but the movement is still missing the needs of many, and fails to embrace the causes and concerns of many who chafe at being labeled feminist. We must address all the issues that rise against women, and the intersectionality that leaves some women, and some men, behind.
